Last week, in my ‘Pride and Ambition’ writing, I made a couple mentions of this Sun-Jupiter conjunction and the approaching perfection of Venus and Mars in Leo. Add Mercury’s fresh entrance to Libra and we may have a weekend where recent discretions and indiscretions are being weighed, with relaxed clarity poised above a pool of fiery and cerulean escape.
The swagger of Jupiter and the Sun, tuned down in discerning Virgo, is beginning to taper some of the heat brought by the Venus-Mars conjunction even as it perfects. In context of the broader sky, this pair’s action in Leo might take the form of fever-pitch romantic happenings, loyalties reassessed, or creative breakthroughs actualized out of thin air yet synonymous with the forms they’re fashioned from.
The interaction of this sky with my particular blend of astrological energy brings me a feeling of distinct ease — drifty imaginative excursions held in balance with mental clarity and grist-to-the-mill type work ethic. Such Virgo-Pisces themes have shown up in the way my plans tonight are unfolding, with some potential work prospects being pushed back to a timespan I set aside to join some friends at a fetish party called the Bondage Ball.
While my experience has led me to associate kink, especially BDSM, first with Gemini, Virgo, Scorpio, Capricorn and Aquarius, there are highly kinky dimensions of each sign, as I explore in an upcoming writing of mine. In this case, the Bondage Ball might be symbolized by the Full Moon in Pisces as much as the Sun-Jupiter conjunction in Virgo. Virgo here symbolizes my workload for today, while the full Moon in Pisces beckons with revelry themed around self-dissolution (Pisces), sacrifice (Virgo/Pisces) and power exchange (Virgo, perhaps especially with the Sun and Jupiter shining there). No surprise that by midnight, two hours after the ball begins, Gemini will be on the Ascendant — the focused flame of Leo (‘all the world’s a stage’) beneath our feet in the 4th house, the Moon with Neptune in the 10th, Pluto in Capricorn in the 8th.
Cutting the Daimon-ds
On the occasion of this Full Moon, I’m pleased to introduce a strange, beautiful series of posts and memes called daimonds. Yes, ‘daimon-ds.’ They are images of great musicians and cultural figures featuring piercing lyrics and quotes — combined with glyphs in the corner of each image indicating planets and signs from these individuals’ birth charts, whose archetypal instincts shine through in the selected words. If there is no room in a choice image, the words and glyphs will be observed in surrounding text.
Those who are particularly into astrology, a world of understanding more poetic than it is literal, will get the most out of these. If that isn’t you (yet?), then you might still enjoy seeing pictures of rad people and interesting stuff they’ve said. Everyone wins.
Elizabeth Fraser, the Scottish singer of Cocteau Twins fame, comes first because a) August 29th is her birthday, b) she’s a badass, and c) this is one of those exceptions to the way most future daimonds will appear. The images of Fraser I’ve included have no lyrics or glyphs in the corner — mostly because the majority of her ethereal vocalizing contains no words. Her lyrics are said to “range from straightforward English to semi-comprehensible sentences (glossolalia) and abstract mouth music,” and that’s aptly put. The fruits of her artistry are so otherworldly… it’s downright witchy.
Even with the visible electricity brought to Fraser’s face by these particular planets’ stellium in Virgo, there is a stoic quality, even a touch of dismay to her countenance that suggests Moon in Capricorn. Jupiter in Aries opposing Mars in Libra; it’d be equally rad if she were born early in the morning August 29, 1963, with the Moon in Sagittarius at a loose trine to Jupiter. I can see and hear either, at this point. She summons it all.
Neptune in Scorpio trining Chiron in Pisces and the N. Node in Cancer… just listen to the elemental magic conjured by this woman with songs like “Beatrix”, “Cherry Coloured Funk” and “Blue Bell Knoll”...
Enjoy that Moon, and stay witchy.
